FMC is today announcing the new look Breaking Tunes website, the discovery portal and community for music on the island of Ireland.

The Breaking Tunes site has been an important resource in the sector for 10 years, and with support from the Arts Council, and consultation with artists and industry users, new elements and features have been added to the unique site.

The last year has seen many artists pivot their work online and as a result, breakingtunes.com wanted to update to facilitate that move.

Some of the new features include:

  • - Digital shopfronts to prioritize and allow you to buy music from Irish acts.

  • - Video display.

  • - High-res downloadable photos for your artist EPK.

  • - New Genre/County/Search navigation.

  • - Gig listings.

  • - The opportunity for artists to display if they are seeking management, publishing, booking or label support.

  • - First ever “Artist Recommends” feature to allow artists to support their favourite Irish artists.

The updated site aims to encourage community among artists as well as the scope to engage with the industry both in Ireland and globally. Ireland is the only country in the world that has a site of this kind where new and emerging Irish artists can all be found in the one place.

Artists are encouraged to sign in now to their new dashboards to update their profile, highlight their favourite Irish artists and more.

When we built Breaking Tunes 10 years ago, it was a response to a call from musicians to have access to each other and from the local music and media industry to have a one stop shop for discovering new Irish artists. Now an artists’ Breaking Tunes profile is an effective EPK, a hub to meet and plan tours and gigs with artists outside your area and a way for FMC to drive opportunities for emerging and developing artists. We hope the new look site will serve as the next natural evolution for the sector, as a shopfront to support hundreds of Irish musicians and as the soundtrack to Ireland’s future.”  -  says First Music Contact CEO Angela Dorgan

The launch coincides with the opening of applications for this year’s Ireland Music Week, the festival which showcases export-ready Irish talent to the best of national and international industry. Artists can apply to play through their dashboard on the Breaking Tunes site.
